Shape’n’Tone by Sport-elec: An in-depth review

The Shape’n’Tone system by Sport-elec is a fitness product designed to enhance endurance through EMS (Electronic Muscle Stimulation) technology. Alongside the main ab belt, the product includes an extension for accommodating larger waistlines, catering to a diverse range of body types.

Pros and Cons

  • Variety of Intensity Levels: The system offers an impressive range of settings, with four programs and 30 intensity levels each, totaling 120 different options. This variety caters to various fitness levels and preferences.
  • Inclusive Design: The inclusion of an extension belt makes the product accessible for people with larger waist sizes, promoting inclusivity in fitness.
  • Cost-Effective: Preliminary comparisons suggest that the material and overall cost of the Shape’n’Tone might be more affordable than its higher-end counterparts.
  • Material Quality: There are concerns that the Shape’n’Tone might be made of cheaper materials, which could impact its durability and effectiveness.
  • Heavy Marketing: The product is heavily advertised, particularly through “As seen on TV” campaigns. This raises questions about the allocation of the manufacturer’s budget and whether it might affect product quality.
  • Complexity of Settings: While the variety of settings is a plus, it could also be overwhelming or confusing for some users.
  • Maintenance: The effectiveness of the pads over time and the need for their replacement is unclear, which might incur additional costs or reduce the product’s efficiency.

In addition, a possible concern is the heavy marketing for this product. It’s the brand using the “As seen on TV” ad. If the manufacturer, Sport-Elec Shapentone, sinks that kind of money into advertising is there another area where they make up that money? Again, that may or may not be a concern. It is vital to check on quality of the system. If the mini-computer used to send signals to muscles isn’t properly working or has a design flaw, the belt might not work as it is intended.

Another possible positive or negative depending on the consumer is all the settings offered on the controller. Shapentone has four different programs with 30 different intensity levels for each program. That makes 120 different options for users. For some that could mean variety and for some that might mean confusing or a sense of being overwhelmed.

Included Items

  1. Move It or Lose It Exercise CD: An accompanying CD provides guidance and workout routines.
  2. Controller: The central unit that controls the EMS intensity and programs.
  3. Ab Belt with Built-in Pads: The primary component that wraps around the waist.
  4. Cream for the Belt: Enhances conductivity and comfort during use.
  5. Extension Belt: Ensures a proper fit for larger waistlines.

Bottom Line

Potential buyers should conduct thorough research before purchasing the Sport-elec Shape’n’Tone. It’s crucial to read customer reviews, understand the product’s features, total price, and the return policy. Considering both the pros and cons, along with informed customer feedback, can guide consumers in making a decision that aligns with their fitness goals and preferences.

  1. My boyfriend is very disappointed with this ab belt. He thought it would be easier if he didn’t need to replace the gel pads in the belt. He ordered the Shapentone brand because the pads are in the belt so you don’t have to mess with it. Guess what? He thinks they lose power every time he uses it. Now he is stuck with a worthless belt that cost him over 2 bills!
